Within the Details section of a contact it is possible to add multiple email addresses, and each one can be assigned a status identified by a color you see on the icon of the airplane on its right side.
The status of the email addresses of your contacts tells the system which ones you wish to use when sending emails or newsletters to a tag or a list to which that contact belongs; in particular:
- Active: it is the default state of an email when an email address is added for a certain contact, and it is identified by a black airplane on the right side of the address. The active state tells the system to send an email or newsletter to that email address should the contact be among the recipients of a certain communication;
- Inactive: identified by a grey airplane on the right, to enable or disable the inactive status it is sufficient to click on the icon of the airplane that will switch from black to grey and vice versa. The inactive state tells the system NOT to send the newsletter to that contact should it be among the recipients of that communication. It will anyway be possible to send emails when that is the only address available for that contact;
- Unsubscribed: identified by an orange airplane on the right, these are the email addresses of users who have decided to unsubscribe from your communications through the “unsubscribe” command in the footnotes of the emails sent through Artshell. The unsubscribed status is not editable and it tells Artshell NEVER to send newsletters to that address should the contact be part of a list of recipients. It will anyway be possible to send emails when that is the only address available for that contact;
- Bounced: identified by a red airplane on the right side, these are the email addresses defined as “blocked” for which the address is synthetically correct, but the incoming mail server blocks it. The bounced email addresses are generally no longer active, or they have reached the limit of available space, or for those addresses there is an error that is not linkable to a syntax matter. The bounced state tells the system not to send emails or newsletters to that recipient should it be among list to which a certain communication is addressed. By clicking on the icon of the red airplane, it is possible to make an email address active again. We suggest you to do so only after having reached the user and having received confirmation of the correctness of the address. Sending emails to addresses marked as bounced increases the likelihood of being sent to SPAM.
Thanks to the search system of the Contacts section it is possible to filter contacts based on the status of their email addresses by using the search syntax within the section and in particular by clicking on the magnifying glass on top and typing the operator is: and then the condition active, inactive, bounced, or unsubscribed.
