How to Create a Consignment Template
Introduction
The Consignment export mode allows you to create complete agreement documents that include images of Artworks, details, and terms of sale for the Artworks .
This tool is designed to help you quickly prepare professional documents to share with collectors, galleries, institutions, or other parties involved in the management of Artworks.
In addition to generating a new document each time, you can also create and save consignment templates—reusable templates that retain text, settings, and configurations you’ve previously set up. This way, you won’t have to start from scratch every time you create a new consignment.
To create a new template, you must always start by selecting the Artworks. This article focuses on creating templates; if you don’t need to save a template at this time, you can proceed to create a single consignment. However, we recommend that you refer to the article on exporting Artworks.
Document preview
Once you've configured the document settings, click " Preview Document " in the lower-right corner.
At this stage, you can complete the consignment by entering:
- the recipient in the "To:" field;
- the sender in the " From:" field;
If the contact you want to use isn't in the list, you can quickly create it by clicking + Create New Contact.
- the date - can be entered manually or selected from the built-in calendar;
- location;
- the text.
To select the "Save Template " button, you must enter at least some text in the document. The other fields, however, can be left blank.
Save as a template
Once you have completed the document, you can choose whether to:
- ship the consignment immediately;
- Save the configuration as a reusable template.
To save a template:
- Click " Save Template";
- Enter the template name;
- Click " Create Template " to confirm.

Where are the templates saved?
All consignment templates are saved under Consignment templates inside the Settings panel ( ).

From here, you can:
- Order them
Use the hand icon to drag the consignments.

- Delete them
Click the icon and then select Delete template.

The system will display a confirmation window before permanently deleting the template. Click Delete again to proceed.
How to use an existing template
All saved templates are available for future consignment exports, allowing you to quickly reuse pre-prepared text and configurations. Whenever you create a new consignment, you can choose whether to:
- Start with a blank document—in this case, uncheck the box next to " Template";
- Use one of the previously saved templates—keep the switch turned on.

Select the template you want to use. If you want to delete a template, you can do so here by clicking the ❌ icon. The system will display a confirmation window before permanently deleting the template. Click Delete to proceed.
If you select an existing template, Artshell will automatically load the text you previously entered.
Update a template
To update an existing template, start by selecting the Artworks. You only need to select one artwork to open the panel Manage on the right. If the panel doesn't open (for example, if the screen is small), click the icon .
From here:
- Click Export;
- Select Consignment mode;
- In the Document Layout section, select the template you want to edit;
- Click " Document Preview."
Once you've opened the document, you can edit the existing text or add new content and settings.
Once you've finished making changes, click " Save Template." The system will display a window where you can choose whether to:
- update the existing template;
- or save the changes as a separate new template.

Limitations on Exporting Multiple Artworks
If you select more than 60 Artworks, some export consignment settings are automatically disabled to ensure a more stable and faster document generation process.
Specifically, the following will not be available:
- Price;
- Images and videos;
- Folders;
- File.
If you need to customize this content as well, we recommend splitting the export into multiple documents, each containing fewer Artworks .
Conclusions
Artshell's Consignment mode allows you to quickly create professional, reusable documents for managing Artworks sales agreements.
By customizing content, Artworks data, prices, and templates, you can create documents that align with your workflow and significantly speed up the preparation of recurring agreements.
