Insights: What They Are and How to Use Them

Insights let you turn the content already in your Artshell account into personalized digital presentations that you can share with clients, collectors, collaborators, or the public via a simple link.

You can use an Insight, for example, to:

• present a selection of Artworks to a collector;
• create a preview for a trade show;
• to describe an exhibition;
• prepare a dossier on an artist;
• Build a digital viewing room.

Unlike simply sharing a Artworks, an Insight lets you create a full-fledged story by combining content from your archive with editorial and multimedia elements and customizing its appearance.

What Are Insights?

An Insight is a customizable digital page that you can build directly within Artshell.

You can start with the content already in your database and combine it with editorial and multimedia elements to create a presentation tailored to the purpose and audience.

Within an Insight, you can add, for example:

• texts and titles;
• Artworks in your Artshell archive;
• events;
• images;
• slideshow;
• video;
• file;
• buttons and links;
• links to your social media channels.

You can also customize the page's appearance by changing the layout, fonts, and colors.

In this way, the Artshell archive itself can serve as the starting point for a wide variety of presentations, without having to recreate content and information from scratch each time.

When to Use an Insight

The flexibility of the Insight series makes them suitable for a variety of situations commonly encountered in galleries, foundations, art collections, and artists’ studios.

Presenting a selection of Artworks to a client

You can compile the " Artworks " you want to offer a collector on a single page and include text, images, and additional information.

This way, the selection doesn't look like a simple list of Artworks, but rather like a presentation tailored specifically for the recipient.

Prepare a preview for a trade show

You can create an Insight featuring the " Artworks " you'll be bringing to the fair and share it in advance with customers and collectors.

You can add an introductory text, information about the project, images of the booth, or other content that will enhance the presentation.

Create an artist portfolio

You can combine a biography, curatorial text, selected “ Artworks ,” studio images, videos, and external links to create an in-depth feature dedicated to an artist.

Describing an Exhibition or a Project

You can use an Insight as a digital catalog for the exhibition, adding text, Artworks, images of the exhibition setup, videos, and any related events.

Create a viewing room

You can present a selection of " Artworks " online to customers who are unable to physically visit the gallery or exhibition space.

Insights or Export via Link: Which Should You Choose?

If you want to share a selection of Artworks from your Artshell account, Insight isn’t the only tool available to you. You can also export a selection of Artworks via a link.

Exporting via a link generates a shareable online page that compiles the selected Artworks and their related information. It is primarily designed for quick and easy sharing of Artworks, such as when you want to send a client a selection of projects without creating a more elaborate presentation.

An " Insight," on the other hand, is recommended when you want to go beyond simply selecting " Artworks " and create a more comprehensive presentation by combining content from your archive with text, images, videos, and other editorial elements.

Log in and explore the Insights section

To access your Insights, click the @ symbol in the vertical menu on the left, then select Insights from the horizontal menu at the top.

In this section, you'll find all the Insights created in your account, sorted chronologically with the most recent ones at the top of the list. The creation date listed on each Insight can help you more easily find the one you're looking for.

From that same screen, you can use the available tools to search for, organize, or create your Insights.

Share an Insight 

Once you've completed your Insight, you can share it via a link and choose the channel that best suits the recipient and the type of presentation.

For example, you can send the link directly to a customer or collector via email or a messaging app, include it in a newsletter, or use it on your website and social media channels.

You can also convert the link into a QR code and use it on printed materials or within a physical space—for example, in a gallery, during an exhibition, or at a trade show. This way, you can use the same Insight both in digital communications and to provide in-depth content during an in-person experience.
