Introduction
In this article, you’ll learn how to make the most of Artshell's communication features to manage your emails more efficiently.
You'll find clear explanations on how to duplicate, send a test email, schedule, and send your emails to new recipients in just a few simple steps — without having to start from scratch each time.
Duplicate an email or newsletter
Duplicating a communication allows you to create an exact copy of an existing email or newsletter.
Tip: The Duplicate function is especially useful when you want to reuse an existing template and quickly apply small changes for a new send-out.
Step 1: Select the email to duplicate
Click on the communication you wish to duplicate (it can be either already Sent or still in Drafts), then click the icon at the top right corner.
Step 2: Enter sender and recipients
After duplication, you'll be prompted to re-enter:
- the sender
- the recipients
- optionally, update the subject line
Once done, you can save or send the duplicated communication.
Send a test email
To preview the email and ensure that all content is displayed correctly, you can send a test of the email to an address of your choice.
To do so, select the draft communication:
- Click the icon in the upper right corner.
- Click Add recipient and select the address from the drop-down list. If the address is not present, click the + to add it. You can also enter multiple email addresses.
- Click Send.
Schedule email sending
To schedule the sending of your email:
- Click the icon in the top right corner.
- Select Schedule Send from the dropdown menu.
- Choose the date and time for sending.
- Click Send Email to confirm, or Cancel to abort the scheduling.
A short demonstration will show you how it works:
If you need to cancel a scheduled email, click on the pink Scheduled button.
Select Edit to change the sending date and time, or select Delete schedule to move the email back to Drafts.
Add recipients to an already sent email or newsletter
The Add Recipients feature allows you to send an email that was already sent to new recipients — including individual contacts, tags, or lists. (Click here to learn more about how to organize your contacts using tags and lists.)
This feature is useful when you want to:
-
Resend the same email to updated tags or lists over time, without worrying about duplicate sends — the system will only deliver the email to new recipients who haven't already received it.
Example Scenario: Let’s say you’ve sent a promotional newsletter to the automatic list “Milan Clients.” Later on, you update your Contacts section with new people, and some of them are tagged with #Milan, which automatically adds them to the Milan Clients list. You can now resend the same newsletter to that list.
Artshell will detect who already received the email and ensure only new contacts get it — without you needing to manually filter them. - Consolidate analytics: all delivery and open stats remain grouped under the same email threads.
- You can only add recipients with this function — you cannot modify the content of the email. If you need to change the text or other elements, we recommend duplicating the original email, making your edits, and sending it again.
- If you want to modify or cancel a scheduled email, make sure to do it at least a few minutes in advance of the scheduled sending time to prevent the email from being sent anyway.
Step 1: Select the email
Click on the sent email or newsletter, then click the icon in the top right corner.
Step 2: Add email addresses
In the Add Recipients panel that appears, select individual contacts, tags, or lists to send the email to.
If a contact is not yet in your address book, you can add them by clicking the + next to Add Recipient.
Step 3: Send
Click Send in the top right corner to deliver the email to the selected new recipients.
If you prefer to send it later, we recommend duplicating the original email and scheduling it from there.
Conclusions
Spending a little time learning how to use these features will save you time and effort down the line.
Your communications will be more organized, personalized, and effective
