Introduction
This article provides a step-by-step guide to verifying and activating your email address in Artshell, so you can use it as a sender for messages and newsletters to your contacts.
Whether you’re a new user or just want to add additional sender addresses, here you’ll find all the information needed to properly configure the email addresses associated with your Artshell account.
Before you begin, a quick note
During the setup process, you may be asked to configure the DNS of the domain linked to your email address.
Each email address consists of two parts: the username and the domain, i.e., the part following the @ symbol (e.g., @gmail.com o @companyname.it).
- If you are using a generic domain (such as Gmail, Outlook, or Yahoo), no configuration is required — these providers automatically manage all technical parameters. However, please note that using generic domains is not recommended for sending newsletters, as it significantly increases the risk of your emails being marked as spam.
- If you are using a custom domain, we recommend manually configuring the DNS. These are technical settings that verify your identity as the sender and help ensure your emails are delivered successfully. Configuration instructions are available in the dedicated article: DNS Configuration.
Check if your email address is verified
To check the status of your email address, go to Email settings by clicking the icon at the bottom left of the screen.
In the corresponding section, you will see the email address used during registration. Based on whether or not you see an orange dot, follow the steps below:
The address has an orange dot
The orange dot means the email address has not yet been verified — you haven’t clicked the confirmation link sent to you during registration.
To complete the procedure:
- Click on the email address marked with the orange exclamation mark.
- In the orange box at the bottom, select “click here to receive it again”.
- Check your email inbox and click the link you received to confirm the address.
- If the email is not in your inbox, we recommend checking your spam or junk mail folders as well.
The address has no dot
If there is no dot next to the email address, it means it has already been verified and is ready to use for sending communications.
In both cases:
- If you’re using a generic domain (e.g., @gmail.com, @yahoo.com, @outlook.com), as mentioned earlier, we advise against using it to send newsletters or messages to large contact groups.
- If you're using a custom domain (e.g., @companyname.it), we suggest configuring the domain’s DNS. This step is optional, but strongly recommended to improve deliverability and ensure your messages reach their intended recipients. For detailed instructions, see the DNS Configuration guide.
Adding additional sender email addresses
Step 1: Access Email settings
Click the icon at the bottom left, then go to Email settings.
Step 2: Add more addresses
Select the Add e-mail button at the bottom right and complete the form with the following fields:
- Sender name.
- Email address.
- Disclaimer: a short text displayed at the bottom of every email, below the “Privacy Policy” and “Unsubscribe” buttons. See an example below.
- Unsubscribe:
- You are receiving this email because: you are our customer, you subscribed to our newsletter, you have shown interest in our products/services.
- Copyright © [year] [company name]. All rights reserved.
Step 3: Verify the new email address
After adding a new email address, you’ll receive a message from no-reply@artshell.eu with the subject “Start sending emails and newsletters with Artshell”.
Click the link inside the email to activate the address as a sender.
If the new address uses a custom domain different from the one used during registration, a new domain section will be created. In this case, we also recommend configuring the DNS.
Conclusion
Proper configuration of your addresses is key to ensuring effective communication with your contacts.
