Introduction
Artshell provides two essential tools for organising and managing your artworks: Tags and Lists.
In this article, you'll learn how to create, add, or remove one or more tags from your artworks, and how to organise them into manual or automatic lists for more efficient and personalised management.
Prerequisites
We recommend reading the following articles before getting started:
Create and manage Tags for artworks
Tags allow you to label and categorise artworks to make them easier to search, organise, and export. Below are the actions you can perform with tags:
Click each box to expand the instructions.
From the artwork sheet:
- Select an artwork and click the icon at the top to enter edit mode.
- In the Add a tag field, type the name of the new tag and press ENTER on your keyboard.
- Click the Save button at the top to confirm.
From the Manage panel (recommended if you're adding a tag to many artworks):
Artshell allows you to assign a tag to multiple artworks at once:
Select the artworks using the icon.
In the Manage panel on the right, click Add tag. If the panel doesn’t appear (for example, due to a smaller screen size), click the three-dot icon in the top right corner.
Click + Create tag.
Enter the name of the tag in the designated field, then click Create tag. Click Cancel to go back.
Make sure the tag you just created is selected, then click the Add button at the bottom right to apply the tag to the selected artworks.
Select the artworks using the icon.
In the Manage panel on the right, click Add tag. If the panel doesn’t appear (for example, due to a smaller screen size), click the three-dot icon in the top right corner.
Use the search bar to find the tag you want to assign, then tick the checkbox next to it to select it.
Click the Add button at the bottom right to apply the tag to the selected artworks.
From the artwork card:
- Select an artwork and click the icon at the top to enter edit mode.
- Click the x next to the tag you want to remove.
- Click the Save button at the top to confirm.
From the Manage panel (recommended if you're removing a tag to many artworks):
Select the artworks using the icon.
In the Manage panel on the right, click Remove tag. If the panel doesn’t appear, (for example, due to a smaller screen size) click the three-dot icon in the top right corner.
Use the search bar to find the tag you want to remove, then tick the checkbox next to it.
Click Remove at the bottom right to delete the tag from the selected artworks.
How to permanently delete a tag no longer in use
To remove a tag you no longer use — and ensure it no longer appears in the search bar or in the list of selectable tags within the Artwork card — you need to delete it from all artworks it is currently associated with.
If you believe you’ve already removed it but the tag still appears among the selectable ones, it means that it is still linked to at least one artwork.
To make sure the tag is completely removed from your Artshell account, follow these steps:
- Select all artworks by clicking the icon, which appears right after you click the icon in the top-right corner.
- From the Manage menu that opens on the right, select Remove tag.
- From the list that appears, choose the tag you want to delete or search for it using the search bar.
- Click Remove at the bottom right to confirm the operation.
Create and manage Lists for artworks
With Artshell, you can organise and group artworks into an unlimited number of lists. As explained in the introductory article Organising content: Tags and Lists, lists can be of two types: Manual or Automatic.
You can access the list of created lists by clicking the section title at the top left.
Create lists
Click each box to expand the instructions:
To create a manual list — a static list that does not update automatically:
Select the artworks using the icon.
In the Manage panel on the right, click Add to list. If the panel doesn’t appear, (for example, due to a smaller screen size) click the three-dot icon in the top right corner.
Since the list you want to add artworks to hasn’t been created yet, click + Create list.
Enter the name of the list in the designated field, then click Create list. Click Cancel to go back.
Click the Add button at the bottom right to insert the selected artworks into the newly created list.
For example, here’s a list based on artworks tagged abstract art and marked as available.
After clicking the icon, choose a name for your automatic list. Finally, click Save list.
For instance, the list above could be named:
“Available Abstract Artworks – tag 'abstract art' + is 'available’”.
Manage lists
Add to a Manual list:
Select the artworks using the icon.
In the Manage panel on the right, click Add to list. If the panel doesn’t appear, (for example, due to a smaller screen size) click the three-dot icon in the top right corner.
Use the search bar to find the list you want to add artworks to, then tick the checkbox next to the list to select it.
Click the Add button at the bottom right to add the artworks to the selected list.
Add to an Automatic list:
Remove from a Manual list:
Select the list you want to manage from the Lists panel in the top left.
Select the artworks you want to remove using the icon.
In the Manage panel on the right, click Remove from list. If the panel doesn’t appear, (for example, due to a smaller screen size) click the three-dot icon in the top right corner.
Use the search bar to find the list you want to remove artworks from, then tick the checkbox next to it.
Click the Remove button at the bottom right to remove the artworks from the selected list.
Remove from an Automatic list:
An artwork is automatically removed from an automatic list if it no longer meets the criteria you defined when creating the list. To remove an artwork, simply make sure it no longer matches the list’s requirements.
Click on the Artworks section title at the top left.
Hover your cursor over a list to reveal the hand icon.
Drag the list up or down to reorder them as you prefer.
